About Tom Paulson

Born in Fort Worth, Tom Paulson's interest in western art started at an early age. Spending summers and holidays working on the family ranch in mountainous southeastern Oklahoma, he developed a love for horses, cattle, and western culture. After graduating from college Texas Wesleyan University, he began a career in commercial art in Irving, Texas. After 30+ years as an art director, Tom and his wife Vickie moved back to the place where he gets his inspiration, the Bosque hill country near Clifton.

Tom has been making paintings and sculptures that reflect the ranch lifestyle of his youth and his current central Texas surroundings. Paulson's bronze sculptures focus on animals and western figures like cowboys and ranchers, depicting each with a sense of movement, a moment in time, and with considerable empathy.

"I paint colors and objects that I see in everyday surroundings." With oils as his primary medium, Tom enjoys painting from a perspective that embraces the western way of life. Tom is a member of the Western Artists of America and has shown in their 2012 annual show in Corsicana, Texas and 2013 miniature show in Billings, Montana.
